About Boyd

Boyd Purdy is the owner-shaper of the business with over 25 years in the industry. He’s been surfing the W.A coast for over 40 years and has been a W.A. State shortboard team representative at the Nationals on 4 occasions.

While no longer competing he still supports a couple of well known W.A. local events – the Sunshine Surf Contest in Geraldton (shortboards) and the Yallingup Malibu Classic (longboards) – both annual events.

All of Boyd’s shapes are custom order shaped to each individuals requirements. Notes on all boards are kept so you can come back and get a repeat made or make fine adjustments to the next board.

SINCE 1996

Yallingup Surf Co was established in 1996 and ever since then has been servicing the needs of West Australian surfers.

YSC has an intimate knowledge of local conditions and local requirements because Boyd surfs the same waves many of his customers surf.

Whether you’re chasing a longboard, fish, or performance short board, a quick consultation with Boyd to discuss where you surf, and how you surf will see you on a board you’re sure to enjoy. Boyd prides himself on producing and completing every element of the boards he makes.

This includes shaping, sanding, glassing and sprays.

Having produced several thousand boards over recent decades, you can be sure you’ll get a great board, in line with what you’ve ordered.

Approachable, knowledgeable and run by a real craftsman, Boyd has been a fixture in the West Australian surf scene for many years, and will continue to be so, for years to come.
